Tsugumori space created by blending old and new wood
Tsugumori's cafe and accommodation building is a simple black building, but once inside, it's a relaxing and comfortable space. The company that helped us create this space was Sansuisha, headquartered in Nagano City. The company creates spaces using old wood reclaimed from old houses.
Construction of Tsugumori began in earnest, and before interior construction began, we visited Sansuisha's old tree warehouse in April 2023 to select the old trees to be used in Tsugumori.

The storehouse dedicated to antique trees, which always has over 5,000 trees in stock, is truly impressive. Each tree is carefully managed and recorded, including its location, age, and the part of the old house it was used in. Of these 5,000 trees, a total of six antique trees were selected: one for the cafe counter on the first floor, three for the display shelves, and two for the bookshelves in the guest rooms on the second floor.

The old wood has an indescribable charm, with holes that are unique to the old nail-free construction method, unique curves, and tasteful smoky color. Although only a small portion of the building is made from old wood, it blends well with new wood to create the Tsugumori space.
We would like to introduce the profile of each old tree once again.
When you visit Tsugumori, be sure to take a look at the interior design.
